2011 Ford Shelby GT350 Review
2011 Ford Shelby GT350 Review
Capitalizing on the upcoming change to the 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0, which gets a new 5.0-liter V-8 to replace the existing 4.6-liter unit, the Shelby GT350 adds a supercharger to the new 4-cam 32-valve Coyote powerplant to bump horsepower to 500. Just like the original, which was a lightweight pony car with V-8 power, the new GT350 gets its performance edge with input from Ford Racing, Goodyear, Borla, Cragar and Baer.
The standard package includes a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with a center-exit Borla exhaust. The suspension features Ford Racing springs, struts, anti-roll bars and adjustable caster/camber plates. The 2011 Shelby GT350 rides on 19-in. Cragar wheels shod with Goodyear tires. The Baer brakes feature 6-piston front calipers and 14-in. EradiSpeed rotors in the rear, along with cooling ducts for all four corners. Appearance items include a new front fascia, taillight trim, a front splitter, read fascia and functional scoops on the side rockers and hood. Inside the cockpit, on the A-pillar, are instruments for fuel pressure, oil pressure and supercharger boost.
The Shelby GT350 will be a limited-run post-title package with the conversions completed by Shelby American in Las Vegas. Buyers can order the car for direct-drop shipping to the Shelby facility. The package lists for $33,995 above the price of the standard Mustang GT on which it’s based. More information is available at gt350.shelbyamerican.com.
