2011 Suzuki Equator Crew Cab Full Review

2011 Suzuki Equator Crew Cab Review

Review:
For 2011, the Suzuki Equator's V6 engine is no longer offered with the rear-wheel-drive extended cab, the RMZ-4 Sport trim has been discontinued and the tilt steering wheel is no longer available for the base trim level.

The 2011 Suzuki Equator is a midsize pickup truck that is available in extended- and crew-cab body styles. Extended cabs are available in Comfort, Premium and Sport trims, and all come with a 6-foot bed. Crew cabs are available in Sport and RMZ-4 trims. Rear-wheel drive is standard for the Comfort and Premium trim in the extended cab, while the Sport extended cab and crew cab can be had with either rear or four-wheel drive. Finally, the RMZ-4 crew cab with its short bed is only available with four-wheel drive.

The extended cab garnered four stars for driver protection in frontal impacts and five stars for frontal-impact passenger protection and driver protection in side impacts. In Edmunds brake testing, a crew cab Equator Sport model came to a stop from 60 mph in 122 feet. The 2011 Suzuki Equator makes use of small reverse-opening doors for extended cab models to allow rear passenger access to the fold-up jump seats. The inexpensive 2011 Suzuki Equator four-cylinder model is well-suited for light-duty work.

The "2011 Equator" remains available in both Extended Cab and Crew Cab body styles, each offering rear-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive (4WD) configurations. To accommodate loads ranging from Suzuki's ATVs to motorcycles, Suzuki offers Crew Cab variants in both Short Bed and Long Bed configurations. In addition, the Equator continues to incorporate class-leading standard safety features, including standard side-impact and rollover airbags and front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, as well as standard stability control on V6 models.
Equator also features a variety of available wheel and tire packages, including 16-inch off-road-style wheels with beefy BFGoodrich Rugged Trail P265/75R16 tires and 17-inch wheels with BFGoodrich Long Trail P265/65R17 tires.

Both standard bed and long bed Equator Crew Cab models are equipped with a standard high-utility bed that includes a factory-applied spray-on bedliner and an optional innovative adjustable tie-down system using built in tracks, extending cargo hauling versatility for active and spontaneous lifestyles. The Equator's interior strikes a balance between pickup truck function and sedan-style comfort, with both Extended Cab and Crew Cab body styles featuring flip-up rear seats, a fold-flat front passenger seat and removable storage boxes tucked beneath the rear seats to provide additional cargo capacity. Putting Equator at the head of its class in safety, all Equator models also come equipped with front seat-side-impact airbags and curtain airbags for side impact and rollover protection for front and rear outboard passengers.
Additionally, both "Extended Cab and Crew Cab models "provide three-point seat belts for all rear-seat occupants, including the center position for the Crew Cab. 2011 Equator Trim Levels and Packages

The Equator Crew Cab offers two trim levels, all powered by the V6 with five-speed automatic transmission. The Crew Cab Sport model offers the choice of 2WD or 4WD
For 2011, according to Suzuki, the Equator is "designed to deliver real capability to consumers focused on both the journey and the destination."

In point of fact, this platform isn't engineered for the mid-size truck segment; rather, it's downsized from the Titan full-size chassis. We like the attributes of the RMZ-4 off-road more than we like the characteristics of the base RWD models on-road.

Both 2011 Suzuki Equator Extended Cab and Crew Cab models feature flip-up rear seats, a fold-flat front passenger seat and removable storage boxes located beneath the rear seats. Beyond that, the base Extended Cab is appropriately spartan. Standard safety equipment in both cabs is more comprehensive, with ABS braking, tire pressure monitoring system and both front seat side-impact airbags and curtain airbags for front and rear outboard passengers.
Most options are tied to the trim levels: Premium, Sport and RMZ-4. Opt for the RMZ-4 with Sport upgrades and you'll enjoy the benefits of Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill Descent Control and Hill Hold Control.

The Toyota FT-HS is a hybrid sports car concept introduced at the 2007 North American International Auto Show. Calty Design Research designed the concept and suggests that it could fill the place of the Toyota Supra.[1] FT-HS stands for Future Toyota Hybrid Sport.[2]

The goal of the rear wheel drive hybrid powertrain is to produce 400 hp (300 kW) and achieve 0-60 mph in around 4 seconds. This is accomplished by combining a 3.5 L V6 and an electric motor in a manner similar to the Lexus GS450h. Unlike the GS (and virtually all other current hybrids), a production version of the FT-HS would make use of a capacitor system designed specifically for quick charging and increased performance.[3] Since the debut of this concept, Toyota has exhibited such technology in the Supra HV-R race car.[4]

The 2+2 vehicle features a unique retractable roof similar to a targa top. The rear seats would be folded down when the roof is retracted however.

In spite of the FT-HS being only a concept vehicle, Toyota's desired starting price for such a vehicle is stated to be in the mid $30,000 range.[5]

An August 2008 article from Automotive News indicated that a production version was no longer being considered.[6] However, a January 2009 article from Edmunds Inside Line states that "the V6 Supra replacement is still in the pipeline and is set for an early 2011 debut".[7]

2009 Honda Fit Sport Car Review

2009 Honda Fit Sport Review
Review:

The good: The 2009 Honda Fit Sport features an economical engine, good handling characteristics, a standard iPod connector, and available navigation, all at well below $20,000.

The bad: The audio quality from the stereo is mediocre, and Bluetooth cell phone integration isn't available. The ride quality can be rough.

The bottom line: Honda made many positive changes for the 2009 version of the Fit, ending up with a car that features excellent fuel economy and some decent cabin tech.

It's only been a couple of years since Honda introduced the Fit to the U.S., but the company already has a significant update ready for the 2009 model year. No, Honda hasn't dramatically shortened its design cycles, rather, the 2007 Fit was an import of a model called the Honda Jazz in other countries. We just got a hold of it midcycle. The 2009 Honda Fit features some new body work, a little more horsepower, and some essential cabin tech. And we still think the U.S. got the best deal on the car's name.

There is a lot to like about this Fit, not least of all the immense cargo area, surprising in such a small car. We like the design touches in the front grille, which gets some angles reminiscent of the Transformers. Honda also makes a navigation system available, which we didn't have in our test car, but in a big oversight, Bluetooth isn't an option. Besides the cabin tech, what interested us most about this little car was the fuel economy.

Test the tech: Zero to 40 mpg
When we tested the 2008 Honda Fit, we put it to timed 60-mph runs because it was the Sport version. At more than 11 seconds for its best time, we decided acceleration wasn't the car's forte. Our 2009 Honda Fit was also the Sport version, but with this one, we set out to maximize its fuel economy.

2009 Honda S2000 Car Review

2009 Honda S2000 Review

Review:

The S2000 ranks near the top of its class for its visceral power and track-oriented handling. It's eye-catching too. Overall, it proves to be a solid choice for anyone that's searching for a weekend thrill ride.

The 2009 Honda S2000 is a no-frills street machine designed to primarily excel at one thing only -- racing. Edmunds writes, "In a world of bloated sedans and SUVs, this roadster is a refreshing example of purity." Indeed, the S2000 produces mind numbing levels of power and speed, and handles just as spectacularly. Nevertheless, it still garners criticism for its stiff suspension and cramped cabin, which lead many test drivers to conclude that it's unfit for daily use. Many also add that its decade-old design could use a refresh in order to keep pace with competitors. That, however, may never happen -- as recent reports indicate that Honda may cancel the S2000 after 2009.

If you're in the market for a sports roadster that handles just as spectacularly, but is more comfortable for everyday driving, test-drive the Mazda MX-5 Miata. Though the S2000 will likely hold better on the track, the Miata is less punishing over bumps and potholes. If, however, track-racing is your thing, stick with the S2000, but be sure to opt for the performance-enhanced Club Racer (CR) trim. Also, be sure to check for current Honda deals that may be available on a new S2000.
