The Honda Civic Si is a sport compact / hot hatch version of the Civic built by the Japanese automaker Honda. The Si trim, which stands for "Sequential Injection" or "Sport Injected," was introduced for the third generation of Honda Civics in both Japan and North America. In Canada the trim became known as the SiR for the sixth and seventh generations, and the Si trim was equivalent to the USDM EX model.[1][2]

For the Japanese and European markets, the Civic Type R was adopted as the high-performance variant of the Civic, starting with the EK9 hatch for Japan in 1997 and with the EP3 hatch for Europe in 2001. In North America the Type R name has never been used for Civics, and the Si/SiR badge continues to signify the highest performance trim. The Civic Si contrasts with the more track-oriented and spartan Type R, which has less sound deadening and amenities in return for better performance, and has been positioned as more of a full-featured sport trim, featuring luxury options such as a sunroof and a seven speaker audio system.

2008 Honda S2000 CR Sports Car Review

2008 Honda S2000 CR Review

Review:
The S2000 CR is a slightly different beast than the more pedestrian Honda roadsters that have been on the scene for the better part of a decade now. The S2000 has been and remains one of our favorite ways to enjoy going topless in the Florida sun. They’re fun, reliable cars that can easily win a trophy at a local autocross, then get you to work in the morning. Add Honda reliability to the equation, and you’re certainly dealing with a winning recipe.

The CR, however, is more of a take-no-prisoners solution. While the engineers left the S2000’s already glorious engine alone, they looked hard at the rest of the car and found some opportunities to enhance performance. Gone is the effortless convertible top, replaced by a handsome body-colored aluminum hardtop in an effort to reduce weight.

There’s also a rather large wing perched atop the decklid that, according to press materials, reduces lift. The rear wing unquestionably reduces rearward visibility, since it sits right in the middle of the already small rear window. While the hardtop and the wing are the biggest visual differences on the S2000 CR, there are myriad smaller details that Honda engineers have tweaked and twisted to help drivers find a few extra tenths out on course. These include revised suspension settings, a quicker steering rack and additional underbody bracing. All of the adding and subtracting of components from the standard S2000 results in a moderately significant 50 pound weight savings; the savings jumps to 99 pounds when the hardtop is removed. Math majors will note that Honda has developed a very feathery aluminum hardtop, and we wonder if the stiffening effect of installing the hardtop would overshadow the potential weight savings from removing it.

The interior of the S2000 CR remains the driver-focused experience it’s always been. Controls and instruments are easy to use, and the seats are very comfortable considering their sporting nature. All things considered, there isn’t much about the S2000 CR that we didn’t like. There were times that we missed the ability to put the top down and enjoy the sunshine, however. Before signing the check, make sure you want those last few tenths of a second badly enough to forgo the less capable but more flexible standard S2000.

Honda S2000 Review And Images

Review:

Manufacturer :    Honda Motor Company
Production :    1999-2009
Class :    sports car
Body style  :   2-door roadster
Layout  :   FMR layout
Designer :    Shigeru Uehara

The Honda S2000 is a roadster that was manufactured by the Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company. It was launched in April 1999 and was created to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. The car was first shown as a concept at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995, following which it was launched in world markets in 1999. The S2000 is named for its engine displacement of 2 L, carrying on in the tradition of the S500, S600, and S800 roadsters of the 1960s. Several revisions were made throughout the car's lifetime, including changes to the engine, gearbox, suspension and interior and exterior. Officially two variants exist: the initial launch model was given the chassis code AP1, while the AP2 designation was given to vehicles produced from mid-2003 onwards. Though cosmetically similar, the AP2 incorporated significant changes to the drivetrain and suspension. Production of the S2000 ceased in June 2009.[1]

2009 Honda Fit Sport Car Review

2009 Honda Fit Sport Review
Review:

The good: The 2009 Honda Fit Sport features an economical engine, good handling characteristics, a standard iPod connector, and available navigation, all at well below $20,000.

The bad: The audio quality from the stereo is mediocre, and Bluetooth cell phone integration isn't available. The ride quality can be rough.

The bottom line: Honda made many positive changes for the 2009 version of the Fit, ending up with a car that features excellent fuel economy and some decent cabin tech.

It's only been a couple of years since Honda introduced the Fit to the U.S., but the company already has a significant update ready for the 2009 model year. No, Honda hasn't dramatically shortened its design cycles, rather, the 2007 Fit was an import of a model called the Honda Jazz in other countries. We just got a hold of it midcycle. The 2009 Honda Fit features some new body work, a little more horsepower, and some essential cabin tech. And we still think the U.S. got the best deal on the car's name.

There is a lot to like about this Fit, not least of all the immense cargo area, surprising in such a small car. We like the design touches in the front grille, which gets some angles reminiscent of the Transformers. Honda also makes a navigation system available, which we didn't have in our test car, but in a big oversight, Bluetooth isn't an option. Besides the cabin tech, what interested us most about this little car was the fuel economy.

Test the tech: Zero to 40 mpg
When we tested the 2008 Honda Fit, we put it to timed 60-mph runs because it was the Sport version. At more than 11 seconds for its best time, we decided acceleration wasn't the car's forte. Our 2009 Honda Fit was also the Sport version, but with this one, we set out to maximize its fuel economy.

2009 Honda S2000 Car Review

2009 Honda S2000 Review

Review:

The S2000 ranks near the top of its class for its visceral power and track-oriented handling. It's eye-catching too. Overall, it proves to be a solid choice for anyone that's searching for a weekend thrill ride.

The 2009 Honda S2000 is a no-frills street machine designed to primarily excel at one thing only -- racing. Edmunds writes, "In a world of bloated sedans and SUVs, this roadster is a refreshing example of purity." Indeed, the S2000 produces mind numbing levels of power and speed, and handles just as spectacularly. Nevertheless, it still garners criticism for its stiff suspension and cramped cabin, which lead many test drivers to conclude that it's unfit for daily use. Many also add that its decade-old design could use a refresh in order to keep pace with competitors. That, however, may never happen -- as recent reports indicate that Honda may cancel the S2000 after 2009.

If you're in the market for a sports roadster that handles just as spectacularly, but is more comfortable for everyday driving, test-drive the Mazda MX-5 Miata. Though the S2000 will likely hold better on the track, the Miata is less punishing over bumps and potholes. If, however, track-racing is your thing, stick with the S2000, but be sure to opt for the performance-enhanced Club Racer (CR) trim. Also, be sure to check for current Honda deals that may be available on a new S2000.
